“Awesome people do awesome things awesomely. So step up connect, share the love, stay positive, and be amazingly awesome.”
Often we see the worst in people in our daily lives, in the media, at school, work or even in our own homes. After awhile we start to think that this is just how people are and there isn’t any good left in the world. I was reminded this week that people should be experiencing 5 positive interactions for every 1 negative interaction that we have with them. What ratio do you think people experience you at?
Here are just two examples of awesomeness…
1.) We recently had our baby shower for our upcoming bundle of joy. The generosity of gifts, time, and thought that went into the shower made for an experience that my wife and I cherished. The connection, love and positivity showed how awesome people can be. It’s amazing the impact a group of people can have when they use their talents, time and energy to come together to support others.
2.) I saw Hamilton! I know many of you are like, “That is soooo 2009, OLD NEWS!” The writing, choreography, and music lived up to the hype. Lin-Manuel is absolutely awesome. His work inspires me to create something unique and contagious in my own life. He is a reminder that good work takes time. He wrote the first song in 2008, performed the first song at the White House in 2009 and the first broadway show wasn't until 2015. For all those dreamers, entrepreneurs, inventors, parents, teachers, athletes and kids doing meaningful/awesome work but not seeing results, KEEP GRINDING! It took Manuel seven years before his idea impacted the world.
The challenge this week is to be awesome in your own family. Do the dishes for your significant other. Take out the trash. Say, “I love you” and mean it. Build the relationships that will sustain you when life isn’t so awesome. If you have time after all that, go see Hamilton!!!!
