I want you to look around the room you are in and find all the things that are RED in 10 secs. Stop reading and take 10 sec. to do this....GO!!!
Now that your back to the blog, name a few of the objects that you saw that were BLUE. If you are struggling to think of something blue or are cheating right now and looking around for blue objects, you are not alone! What we focus on we become in life! It is amazing how by narrowing our thoughts, actions, and vision we can create a positive or negative future for our lives. One practice I have done for the past few years is the One Word journey made popular by author Jon Gordon. You select one word or focus and you work to live it out all year long, similar to a New Years resolution. The one word is different from a New Years resolution because of its simplicity which allows you to narrow your focus and drive you moving forward. My word this year is "Relentless". The Darby Hoops team is also embracing this idea in the hope that we can have no regrets, no reserves, and no retreats as we compete and inspire on and off the court. We bought bracelets for each of our players grades 3-12 as a tangible reminder of our word. I can look down and be reminded each day what my focus is. I encourage you to select a word that means something to you that will drive you in a positive way moving forward. Don't wait until January 1st! Start now and find a way to make it tangible. A sticky note in your cubicle or car. A bracelet or piece of art you create and hang on your fridge. This tangible object will share your vision with others and hold you accountable to your word. As stated above, "God demands it, your family deserves it, and the world is starving for it." Whether your word is love, commit, purpose, happy, or relentless, your family deserves it and the world is starving for it.
